Thanks Peter. My preference would be for the user to be able to set the filetype by default, so you actively have to choose Extended. This would be much safer, especially for those of us who need to share data with a lot of other organisations and volunteers. Jane Mason Biological Records Officer ...

Thanks Peter.  I had thought that, but it happens with Native tables.  I think it depends on what was saved last.  So if I last Saved As a table as Native, the next time I do Save As of a Native table it is Native by default.  If I Save As with a NativeX table, the next time Save As is by default MapInfo ...

Risky, isn't it!  If you have time to add it to the Portal that would be great please.  Many thanks! ------------------------------ Jane Mason Biological Records Officer (GIS), Suffolk Biodiversity Information Service, UK ------------------------------

Hello John, I thought I would ask my question here as it is all related.  I had a problem with not being able to open tables created in v2019.3 in v15.0 or other applications, and realised that although in my System Settings 'New Table' is set by default to MapInfo rather than MapInfo Extended (see attached ...

Thank you Duri.  It was indeed something similar that happened - the Access database engine was re-installed and now 64bit is working again and all is well. Thanks for your help, Jane ------------------------------ Jane Mason Biological Records Officer (GIS), Suffolk Biodiversity Information Service, ...

Our IT remotely installed a MS Office update this morning, since when a MapBasic program fails and causes MapInfo v17.0.4.3 to crash.  This is where a Link Table is populated with the results of a query, and then populates a table within Access (16.0.13029.20342) 64-bit.  The IND, ID and MAP parts of ...

No, that went when I switched off both sets of settings for TIF files i.e. Native Formats and GDAL Formats :-).  It's the issue with the vector polygon showing darker under that 25k translucent tile than the surrounding ones.  ------------------------------ Jane Mason Biological Records Officer (GIS), ...

Hi John - yes, I'd done that thanks, and that cleared the other problem I had, but this appears for other people too.  Is it OK at that location for you? ------------------------------ Jane Mason Biological Records Officer (GIS), Suffolk Biodiversity Information Service, UK ------------------------- ...

Hmmm.... The problem was noticed with the 25K raster at 640,002 250,001- it displays the same in v17 and v15, so wonder if it's an issue with the actual TIF?  I do have grey scale set, as well as translucency.  Apparently this is happening with the latest download too. ------------------------------ ...

Thank you, John!  That's much better!  I am still getting the vector colour showing darker under some 10km blocks of tifs of the 25k raster, as in the attached image, but I can live with that, compared with what I was getting before.   Thanks again for pointing me to that post, Jane ----------- ...

I'm having real problems with the map window display of translucent rasters (when in both map window and Layout window).  I have a polygon layer with solid colour underneath Ordnance Survey raster layers, but in v17.0.4 the polygon colour is showing solid on top of the translucent raster.  With OS 25K, ...

Hello Georges - if you're in v15, I would right-click on the Layout window map frame, click Activate in the pop-up menu, right-click again on the Layout map frame and then click Change View in the pop-up menu so you can change the scale to zoom in or out.  You can also pick "Preserve current zoom" or ...

Straight after clicking Open Workspace, I got the error message "Cannot load LAYOUT landscape.wor.  Version 15.2 of MapInfo can load it", so it didn't actually open.  When I opened it in Notepad I saw that I'd saved it in v17, so it was set to the wrong printer.  I recovered the old file and save changes ...

This is useful to know Peter.  Changing tack slightly but on the subject of backwards compatibility, I had saved some layout workspaces in v17 which wouldn't open for users in v15 - this was because the printer was set to MapInfo v17 PDF printer: Set Window FrontWindow() Printer Name "MapInfo PDF Printer ...

Just to add to this - there is an embarrassingly simple solution.  My error was in trying to add the map window and legend into our existing layout (opened as a workspace) frame.  You don't need to, as now you can add your map window into a blank Layout (under the Map dropdown), and it will come in in ...
