Many thanks John, I'll give it a try when they send me the registration info. ------------------------------ Jane Mason Biological Records Officer (GIS), Suffolk Biodiversity Information Service, UK ------------------------------

Hi John, Thanks!  No, they didn't supply a tfw so that's probably the problem.  I'll ask for the tab too.   Happy New Year! Jane ------------------------------ Jane Mason Biological Records Officer (GIS), Suffolk Biodiversity Information Service, UK ------------------------------

Hello all, I have this TIF file Land Cover Map 2020 (25m rasterised land parcels, GB) - EIDC (ceh.ac.uk) covering Suffolk. It is a three-band dataset in GeoTiff format.  Has anyone opened this in MapInfo?  I have Pro 2019 but not Pro Advanced. When I open the TIF the Image Registration box opens asking ...

Hi Peter, I've downloaded this tool and find the same as Rex above - if I click on Embed Thematic Legend in the tool, or untick it in the Thematic Legend window in the tool, as soon as I move the map in the map window it comes back.  Is there anything else I can try in 2019.3 Release Build 41?   Thanks, ...

Many thanks, Andrei.  Defra sent me a new Geodatabase and I was able to unzip it and open it as Universal Data, and I was able to open it in FME too, so all is well.  The must have been an error in the first data sent. ------------------------------ Jane Mason Biological Records Officer (GIS), Suffolk ...

Thanks for your reply, Warren.  That's some job - I'm impressed Extended TAB can be that big!  I thought my 3GB files were good....  I did resolve the problem, thanks (or rather Defra did by sending a different Geodatabase - there must have been a problem with the original). Thanks, Jane ---------- ...

Yes, though I think the dataset's too big, probably.

Hi John, and many thanks for your reply. I thought that might be the case, as I think I've had this before - the format is greyed out.  Doesn't make sense - in order to use MapInfo to import another format you need the licence for the other software... I'll try other routes, though they may have to send ...

Hello all, I've downloaded a 62MB zip file of MasterMap data, called FGDB.zip, sent by download link from Defra.  However, I'm unable to do anything with it so far.  They have told me 'The Format is FGDB so if you unzip it it should contain a .gdb file that can be opened in most GIS Software and  FME ...

Thank you both, I think I understand now.  It's to do with the software the date field is displayed in.  I'm converting from TAB to SHP - the resulting SHP displays the date field correctly as dd/mm/yyyy in MapInfo, but trying to view it in the client's software produces yyyy-MM-dd.  So they can change ...

I have a MapInfo table with a date field, with dates in the format dd/MM/yyyy such as 26/11/1990 .  When I translate the file to Shapefile using the Universal Translator, it comes out as yyyy-MM-dd (1990-11-26 instead of 26/11/1990). Is there anything I can do about this, as the format dd/MM/yyyy is ...

Thanks Peter. My preference would be for the user to be able to set the filetype by default, so you actively have to choose Extended. This would be much safer, especially for those of us who need to share data with a lot of other organisations and volunteers. Jane Mason Biological Records Officer ...

Thanks Peter.  I had thought that, but it happens with Native tables.  I think it depends on what was saved last.  So if I last Saved As a table as Native, the next time I do Save As of a Native table it is Native by default.  If I Save As with a NativeX table, the next time Save As is by default MapInfo ...

Risky, isn't it!  If you have time to add it to the Portal that would be great please.  Many thanks! ------------------------------ Jane Mason Biological Records Officer (GIS), Suffolk Biodiversity Information Service, UK ------------------------------

Hello John, I thought I would ask my question here as it is all related.  I had a problem with not being able to open tables created in v2019.3 in v15.0 or other applications, and realised that although in my System Settings 'New Table' is set by default to MapInfo rather than MapInfo Extended (see attached ...

Thank you Duri.  It was indeed something similar that happened - the Access database engine was re-installed and now 64bit is working again and all is well. Our IT remotely installed a MS Office update this morning, since when a MapBasic program fails and causes MapInfo v17.0.4.3 to crash.  This is where a Link Table is populated with the results of a query, and then populates a table within Access (16.0.13029.20342) 64-bit.  The IND, ID and MAP parts of ...

No, that went when I switched off both sets of settings for TIF files i.e. Native Formats and GDAL Formats :-).  It's the issue with the vector polygon showing darker under that 25k translucent tile than the surrounding ones.  ------------------------------ Jane Mason Biological Records Officer (GIS), ...

Hi John - yes, I'd done that thanks, and that cleared the other problem I had, but this appears for other people too.  Is it OK at that location for you? ------------------------------ Jane Mason Biological Records Officer (GIS), Suffolk Biodiversity Information Service, UK ------------------------- ...
