Hi, I've been dong a lot more creating and editing polygons recently, not something I normally do. I'm haivng significant problems editing polygons. Reshape works fine. And Add Nodes works fine. The problem is when I switch back to Reshape from Add Nodes, it (just at random times it seems) switches back ...

Persevere John, it gets better quickly :-) Initially I struggled with layouts created in the old version, and conflicts in the new version, but when you're over, it seems a lot smoother and less temperamental. Ditto legends. The move to layouts using a cloned map seems weird at first, but it works well ...

Thanks Nick! I would want to create points though, so I guess I'll stick to cloning the book :-) ------------------------------ Martin Burroughs Oldham Council ------------------------------

Apols if this has come up before. I have an excel workbook with multiple worksheets. I have 2 different analyses, both of which I want to map, which are on different worksheets. They are derived from the same dataset, but different types of data, so I don't want them on the same sheet, and I don't really ...

Does this imply we'd have to pay extra for it, or it'd just be an add-on? ------------------------------ Martin Burroughs Oldham Council ------------------------------

It does seem to have some mapping options further in John. Don't know why we'd want non-spatial options! ------------------------------ Martin Burroughs Oldham Council ------------------------------

FWIW, I'd probably thematically map just the ten most frequent, with others shown black outline. Looks like that would be 90% of your trees, so would give a good visual. I'd add a 2 character ID for each genus, and I'd label display that on the less frequent genuses(genii?). I'd probably set it up so ...

I've been using another piece of software recently, that had the neat feature that holding down the space bar made the cursor pan- it's way quicker that switching in and out of pan, and so intuitive I keep trying to do it in Mapinfo. Does Mapinfo have a feature like this, or could it have? Martin -- ...

I wouldn't know how to approach, but just as an observation if your road names are anything like ours there will be duplicates, in which case I'd use a more unique ID, however the process works. ------------------------------ Martin Burroughs Oldham Council ------------------------------

just a thought- If your ultimate aim is to produce the set of all boundaries which do not intersect a body of water, perhaps it would be more efficient to check for intersects with a water dataset, and then what's left is your answer? Unless you were looking at really small watercourses I suspect there ...

So, Nick's solution works...takes a very long time to process though, 1300 arrows probably took an hour or so. And clearly I need to finesse my data set! ------------------------------ Martin Burroughs Oldham Council ------------------------------

I've got some data with 2 columns, start postcode and end postcode. I also have postcode centroids as points. I'm wondering if there's an easy way to create an arrowed line for each row in the table? Or if not an easy way, then a difficult way :-). Martin ------------------------------ Martin Burroughs ...

Hi, I'm mapping information using a thematic map (V17). Graduated points. My information is in integers. The legend insists on showing decimals though. Obviously this is less than helpful when people try to interpret what they are seeing on the map- how do I constrain it to integers? Also, while I'm ...
