We have a partner running MapInfo Pro on a Citrix environment for one of their customers, not sure of the exact Citrix version. It works fine but their setup is done in a way where the software is installed on an available machine each time, and they have identified an issue with 17.0.2 on this setup ...

Note that in order to see the folder of preference file that Andrei references, you will need to set Windows Explorer to display hidden files and folders if you have not already done so. If you don't see the menus in Explorer, press Alt. Then find the Options dialog under one of the menus, go to the ...

There are two sides to this, the technical and the commercial.  From a technical point of view, installing version 17 on a machine will normally replace the existing version 16. The user must then select a different folder for version 17, and then the two versions can co-exist without problem. (When ...

Sounds like a great session Peter! I remember your post in the old MapInfo journal where you created a buffer and made a spatial join on the fly in SQL (slurry tanks near water stream, was it?). Very nice example, but I would not be able to write it without some repetition. :-)  I do have one ...

@John Ievers - as Peter mentions above, we introduced the larger set of single key shortcuts with the release of 17.0.1 last week, and these are case sensitive. So S is now actually for Select tool, while s is for snap.

Vital input in increasing the saftey for our kids!   It would be great to learn what effect this kind of analysis can have. Who was/is the map presented to - mainly the traffic planning department, the school staff, the public or someone else?

Hi Camilo, Great question! Sorry for not replying sooner. It would be good to understand your use case(s). Can you elaborate a bit further on what analytics you are looking for, and the business outcome you are expecting? MapInfo Pro itself mainly supports the spatial calculations and aggregations ...

This is a great guide Peter! On the subject of precision in your last section, there is another article describing how the built-in tool in MapInfo can be used to easily control the current Bounds, and therby the precision: https://community.pitneybowes.com/communities/community-home/diges ...

Hi Laura, You say that the information is divided into layers. Typically you would style these in the Layer Control and then save a Worspace, then they will have the same rendering next time you open your workspace. This works fine also if the data has been edited, as long as the layers in the Geopackage ...

Thanks for sharing Kobi! Your setup seems similar to that of many clients here in the Nordic market, with a mix of TAB files (for the speed, and being available offline) and spatial databases + also non-spatial for adding related attribute data, such as property ownership. A couple of questions ...

Go to the Backtage Area (the blue Pro tab to the left in the Ribbon UI). Under Options, in the System section, select Performance. This dialog lets you control two specific settings. The first is called Concurrency level, and this controls the number of cores that MapInfo may use. Make sure this ...

Great use case Chris! Also I really like how you elaborate on the display settings to convey the result of the analysis in best possible way. Another way to make a raster from a point file is the Distance method under Create Raster. Here is an example where service points (could well be pubs) are ...

Dont miss the chance to try out the new features in our coming v17 release! One of the additions to this version is the ability to edit distance units (kilometers, km, etc.) in the scale bar, this is one of the suggestions from users in our region that made it into the software. If you are not already ...
