  • 1.  Scheduling Queries on Weekdays Only

    Posted 07-31-2022 22:32
    Hi All,

I want to schedule three queries but only want them to run on weekdays only, is this is possible or do I have to schedule the same query for each workday I want it to run?

    Thanks
    Ben

    See attached quick guide.

    1) Select Schedule button.

Fill in a title, email to be sent when done, and more information if needed.
    Press the Next button.

Then Saturday and Sunday (Select Monday though Friday for weekdays)

Set the time to have them run.

    Hi Benjamin,

I should have stated I want to be able to do this on the Server, not Local.

    Thanks

In query you can schedule to run on the server using an account with sap credentials.   Then you go to the menu bar-> schedule->  select the SAP Server for schedule -> select the SQL connection if query is that type ->  Then select weekly -> choose Monday.
Then create another one for Tuesday. Then another for Wednesday, another for Thursday, another for Friday.    In the end you have 5 weekly queries scheduled on the server.

I schedule a query to run daily from my computer and send out email notifications with the data file attached, but would like to start scheduling it from the server.  However, I don't see a way to send email notifications and attach a file using Server Scheduling.  Is this not possible from the server?  Anybody know?

    Hi Ben
I have several queries that run nightly on the server. I receive an email confirmation. However, you cannot attach a file nor can you have the email go to a different user. What happens when it's run on the server, is a folder is created in Foundation/Evolve which stores the file. The caveat there is only the person who schedules the run can access that folder (or an admin). So, the easier way is to schedule locally so you can attach the file and send it to a different email address. The problem with local schedules is the users computer needs to be on and connected to the business network. The ability to run only M-F is not available. If there is no harm, you could have them run over the weekend. That's how I do it, daily runs. Saves a lot of time in the long run from having to create 5 separate schedules times 3 queries (in your case). I have 25 running nightly, that would be a nightmare to have to set them each up 5 times.
