  • 1.  Scheduled Cross-Linked Scripts – Append Date Issue

    Posted 08-12-2022 13:18
    Hi everyone,

I'm running a Local Schedule on a chain that consists of a Query Script - Query Script - Transaction Script combination.

Initially, when I tested it with a simple schedule, it worked perfectly fine. However, given the need to execute it weekly and to keep a distinct file record of each run, I decided to use the "Append Date" option and ran into the following an issue:

    • (Q) Script 1 outputs to  %NAME%_YYYYYMMDD_HHMMSS.xlsx
    • (Q) Script 2 outputs to  %NAME%_YYYYYMMDD_HHMMSS_YYYYYMMDD_HHMMSS.xlsx
    • (T) Script 3 outputs to  %NAME%_YYYYYMMDD_HHMMSS.xlsx

    (T) Script 3 only uses data from (Q) Script 1, which leads to some errors. This first file is the one sent via email, the second is saved locally with just (Q) Script 1 and (Q) Script 2's data.

As mentioned above, the chain works fine if no appending is used but that means the original file %NAME% will keep being overwritten and separate copies won't be made.  Also, in using this option the Transaction upload log won't clear completely if the previous run happened to have more records.

Is this a known issue? Is there a workaround?

    Many thanks.

    Kind regards,
    João Cardoso
