Hello Dave,
They're an Apple/Mac/macOS/Windows font family. So for Linux, the documentation would be updated to specify why/when the user would want to install truetype fonts on Linux. To make progress on your installation, we suggest to proceed without the font.
The equivalent on many Linux installations is FreeType 2.4 or later, that would do the same for Linux users.
Thanks.

We do have Liberation fonts installed. Will those work?

Subject: Requirement for Microsoft TrueType font on Linux systems
I'm looking at the requirements for Spectrum 2023.1 on Linux and am surprised to see that we're required to install Microsoft TrueType fonts. Is this really necessary for all Spectrum users, or just for Spectrum Spatial users? Has anyone successfully installed Spectrum 2023.1 without installing the TrueType fonts?
This feels like a big headache that I'd like to avoid.
