The product enhancements such as this are driven by the overall level of customer demand. I looked on the Precisely Ideas portal but there does not appear to be an existing request for it. The Product Management team regularly review the ideas on the portal and consider the number of votes when determining which items from the product backlog to promote as roadmap candidates. Can you please raise this as an idea so that you will then be informed about any changes to it's status. It will also provide visibility of the request and allow other users to vote for it too.
The functional change for the Output Excel node 'to be able to specify the name of an input field containing the file names to which input data records will be written' is already on the product backlog (ref LAE-24826) but it would require customer input to highlight the demand for this enhancement.

The Output Excel node (and Append Excel node) does not support the option to specify the name of the output file from the value of an input field - The filename must be a literal value.
The context menu on the node's 'File' property is a generic UI widget and it is there to permit you to specify the value for the output file name using a property substitution from a Run property, Data Flow property etc.

the Output to Excel node has an option to use the input fields for a file name, but it doesnt work?
but when I try it.. it errors.
Unable to create the output file. While the file itself does not need to exist, the path to the file needs to exist and be accessible prior to running the node
then gives some cray path that ends with /'TAXOCC'
it doesnt covert it to the data
I know I can rename, but this would make it easier!
