Hi
@Sven Roepke,
@Matthew Kennedy,
Business continuously evolves, and so does the way we govern and manage Data.
Often this changes require to adapt the metamodel, i.e. the Data360 artifacts:
- Merging artifacts
- Splitting artifacts
- Moving a standalone artifact to a tree-structured parent-child artifact
- Moving a child artifact somewhere in the tree-structure
- Moving an artifact away from the tree-structure
You can think about these operations just like files and folders on your computer storage.
The UI of Data360 Govern does not offer any easy solution, which leads to laborious, costly and long manual migrations with potential loss of knowledge.
It might be worth for the Product Management at Precisely to think about providing
real solutions to this, as Business needs to be more agile and react fast to be able to grasp new opportunities.

Hi Zahid,
The other option - although not automated - would be to update one asset configuration as the master, then export/download the master assets and secondary assets into Excel, merge the assets in Excel, and then use the bulk loader to bulk update the existing master assets with the new merged content. Hope that helps!

Thanks, Matthew. For now, I might redo one of the existing assets to make it a master.

Hi Zahid,
Though what you describe is not currently possible through the UI directly, it is possible through the usage of APIs ( utilizing APIs, the team can read / insert / delete items from two assets ) :
Data360 Govern Help - API documentation (infogixsaas.com)
If the team is looking for a more conventional / streamlined way to accomplish this, I recommend suggesting this within our "Precisely Ideas" portal :

Hi, I am trying to join two existing business assets into one combined asset. What is the best and most automated way to approach it?
Should I create a new/combined asset and then include or bring existing assets one by one?
Has any done this kind of situation and done this type merging work in D360 Govern?
Thanks.
