    Good morning,

    Is there a way to prevent MapInfo 2023 from creating the .OVR raster pyramid files?

    Hi Darren

    You can try to tweak the Generate Raster Over Cache setting in the Raster Preferences dialog.

    You find this setting on the Backstage via the Home tab, and then under MapInfo Pro Raster Preferences.

    Hi Peter,

    Many thanks for the information. Changing the setting to 'Only if required' has stopped the OVR from being created, but it still creates the GHX file. A couple of further questions arise from this:

    • What determines when the creation is 'required' - it's a bit vague as to the criteria for this as I don't want it to be created in any circumstances. It only seems to create these when I disable the ECW and GeoTIFF processing that usually creates the PPRC pyramids.
    • In MapInfo 2021, this setting is the same ('Unless medium') but this version has never created any OVR files (with the same ECW and GeoTIFF processing disabled) - is there a particular reason v2023 decides to do this?
