    Hello,

I want to open a DWG file in Autocad, but I cannot find the "universal translator" function in my new version of MapInfo 2023? Where can I find the .mbx file? In advance, thank you for your answers.

    Hi Thomas,

If you enable the Tool Extensions in MapInfo you'll see it in the list of running tools, just double-click the item to open the translator.

Alternatively, you can create a shortcut to the 'fmequicktranslator.exe' executable located in C:\Program Files\MapInfo\Professional\UT

That way you can use UT without opening MapInfo.

    Regards

    Hi Darren,

A priori, the software is not in the add_on directory? In any case, I can't find the program? So I would like to recover the application's .MBX file. It's not in the MarketPlace either... Thanks in advance.

    Hi Thomas,

The MBX file is also in the UT folder in Program Files. If that is not present on your machine I can only suggest reinstalling MapInfo.

    Regards

    Darren

    Thank you for your answer.
What is strange is that 4 workstations have been installed in my team, and no one has this famous "universal translator", which we had in the previous version of MapInfo... and which is very practical.
If it's just installing an add-on (like drawtools), I'd like as much...

When you installed MapInfo, did you select the setup.exe, right-click and select >Run as Administrator?

If you don't Run as Admin, the process does not check for the pre-requisites and can miss certain elements.

As for the DWG opening - have you tried to open it using the Universal Data option

Universal Translator is one of a few applications that gets installed in the MapInfo Pro installation folder, typically C:\Program Files\MapInfo\Professional.

You can find the application file MUT.mbx in the UT subfolder.

Note that I have MapInfo Pro installed in a custom folder, C:\MapInfo\Pro\v23.0.
You should also be able to locate Universal Translator in the Tools window.
When loaded, you can find Universal Translator on the Table tab.
