    I have just been having a play with the new heatmap options in MapInfo Pro, it is a very simple and easy way to generate heat maps quickly and easily.  A quick test with a sample million points took about 15 seconds to create and 3 seconds to reproject in to popular visualization so I could overlay on Bing maps.  Great tool for basic heat mapping.
