  • 1.  How to change scale units to local language

    Posted 10-02-2017 09:54

If I insert a scale on a map and I use an English version of MapInfo. The scale will say something like "500 meters".

But my operating system is Danish. It should say "meter" (the danish word for meters). Vice versa. If I use the danish version of MapInfo on an English Windows. The scale says "meter" but should write "meters".

I would like MapInfo to insert the correct word/translation, based on the language of the operating system, and not MapInfo.

I cannot change the scale text after it has been added. Is it possible to change this in some MapInfo configuration somewhere. To set what language MapInfo uses to insert text like "meters".

If not I might be able to change it in the WOR/WOX file manually after the scale has been added?

Unfortunately, there is no easy way of dong this right now - if there even is away.

Currently we don't distinguish between interface language strings and output language strings which mean tha tthe string you see in the interface will also be used for output, eg. on layouts, in scalebars etc

At the moment this is taken from the language of MapInfo Pro and not from the language of your Windows OS.

Maybe @Andrei Veselov? or @Bob Fortin? have a diifferent solution.

We really should change this behaviour
