  • 1.  Can the Send Email node inherit properties from RPS?

I have 1x harvester data flow for 2x data-sets; each has a dedicated Run Property Set to run, which triggers a dedicated success flow or a dedicated failure flow:

    • "Harvester" runs "RPS1" triggering "DS1 success flow" on Success and "DS1 failure flow" on Failure
    • "Harvester" runs "RPS2" triggering "DS2 success flow" on Success and "DS2 failure flow" on Failure
    • [for each new data-set we'd create a new "RPS3" plus "DS3 success flow" and "DS3 success flow" etc]

We will be onboarding many more data-sets and would prefer to have a single "shared" pair of Success/Failure flows so that we create/maintain only 1x (not 3x) items per data-set:

    • "Harvester" runs "RPS1" triggering "Generic success flow" on Success and "Generic failure flow" on Failure
    • "Harvester" runs "RPS2" triggering "Generic success flow" on Success and "Generic failure flow" on Failure
    • [for each new data-set we'd create a new RPS but nothing more]

The data-set-specific success/failure flows send an email with data-set name hard-coded into the email body. In order to consolidate to the more maintainable configuration described above, we'd need to instead have data-set name inherited from RPS.

In docs I can't find explanation as to how properties can be inherited from RPS.

Additionally can the outcome of a Run be inherited i.e. to state in email body whether "The scheduled data flow Succeeded" or "The scheduled data flow Failed".

Please see the attached document that describes the use of Run Property Sets.

See the Configuring schedule emails section of the online Help for details of using the System-wide email notification data flow. The 'Data360 Failed Schedule Email Notification' data flow is available to Analyze Server instance users who are provisioned with the Administrative role.

In general, outputs (values) from a data flow are not available to a follow-on data flow. There is a roadmap candidate to deliver enhancements in this area (a.k.a Data Flow as a Service functionality).

This data flow is used to send an email notification when a data flow Fails. The data flow is run by the Analyze system when the on failure action for a scheduled data flow is configured to send an email (as opposed to running a user-defined 'on failure' data flow.

The properties for the Send Email node in the 'Data360 Failed Schedule Email Notification' data flow are shown below:
