Hi all,

I am trying to create a script to change all master data we maintain against material codes.

However, when running the script to update the purchase order long text box nothing happens.

Does anyone have any ideas on this?

Hi Mustafa -

Are you using the built-in add long text functionality in the mapper?  I believe you are on Studio 11 or 12 so you should be able to do this easily.

If you try to record the update of the long text instead, it cannot be done unless you are in non-batch with controls mode, otherwise you need to switch to basic editor and enter in the long text in 72-character unique lines. 

It's much simpler to use the built-in add long text functionality by just recording an MM02 and enabling the long text in the mapper after.

Hi Jennifer,

Thank you, that's now allowed to be input the text in the long text box within my script.

However, the requirement is to have different pieces of information on different lines with the long text box E.G. Line 1 = Code, Line 2 = Description, Line 3 = creator.

How is this possible to do using the long text functionality?

Hi Mustafa -

Well that would be up to you. You could try using Excel to help you out, having 3 columns as each of the lines and then concatenating them into another column, but you'd need to make sure to keep the spaces included. You may need additional helper columns to do that. 

If that does not work then you may need to go back to recording the individual text lines using basic editor mode, instead of using the Add Long Text functionality.
