  • 1.  Updating Long text for Projects with CJ02

    Hello community,

    Can anybody help me with my text problem?

    I have a problem with the long text for wbs in CJ02

    The text for a wbs exists of 2 parts, a description and a long text
    I want to add a text line at the beginning of the long text

    In Transaction CJ02 one can update long text in two ways:
    First select a wbs row and then:
    1. select the button Long text below the box with wbs lines
    2. select the details button below the box with wbs lines and then select the tab L.text

    With option 1. you get one textblok with only  the first line that is the wbs description
    With option 2. There is a header field with a wbs description and a there is a textblock
                                  If you update the long text, the Description is replaced by the first line of the long text

    Once the 2 fields are stuck together, in option 2 the first line of the textblok is filled in the description
                          and the long text contains both the description and the long text

    If you don't know what the situation will be, how can you update the long text in the right way?

    Does anyone know how you can manage these texts well?

    Hi Anja

    If you use option 1, select WBS and click long text button.

    You will see something like this:
    Click on LINE above, and it will insert a new line, kind of like a carriage return on your keyboard.  You will be able to type in text up to 72 characters.  You can click LINE several times to insert additional rows, as needed.

    Your WBS element will still look like this afterwards - with the description separate from the long text.

    The long text will stay on the separate line - see the updated long text below:

    Please note if you add additional long text afterwards, hitting LINE will push the long text down and add a line from the beginning.
    if that's not what you're after, and you want to add long text to the bottom, click the bottom (down down arrow) and then the LINE or INSERT

    Hello Sigrid,

    Thank you for your answer.

    I have tried your suggestion and it works to add text in the Long text.

    But after this action the description and the long text are joined together.
    We have another report where we want to see the fields Description and Long text apart from each other.
    This report is not oke anymore for the wbs that has been changed in this way.

    Hi Anja

    I'm glad you could successfully add long text.   

    It seems that is how SAP is storing this information, i.e. the description of the WBS, along with additional long text.  Perhaps if you pull the first line, since we use the LINE option, it would be the WBS description, then lines 2 - n would be the long text.
