Hello - 

I am just diving into creating new scripts.  I have read that long text updates are some problematic except for certain transaction codes as detailed here:  Record Long Text

So, I am not sure if there is some other work around or not.  

Here is a screenshot of the SAP area that I am trying to update:

Hi Michael -

Do you see the "add long text" button at the top of the ribbon in the mapper?  That's the easiest way to add long text to a certain subset of t-codes, including CS02.  As long as you have a somewhat up-to-date version of the Winshuttle Function Module (WFM) installed on your SAP system, you should see that option and be able to select the long text fields you want to use.  Once you select the long text you want to update, you will see long text related fields in the mapper and then you can map those.

@JENNIFER HWANG - thank you for the feedback.  We have updated WFM.  I can now select long text in the CS02 module.

Unfortunately, even though it shows that the text was saved.  There are still no changes in SAP.

I just tried it myself and yes, unfortunately, it is not working.  Judging by the fact that those fields do show up when you click on the "add long text" button, it seems that CS02 was always planned to be included to work with this functionality, but it doesn't in fact work.  I just researched internally and it seems that the long text in CS02 is inherently different than a lot of the other long texts within other SAP t-codes (SAP technical limitation of an update flag and lack of BAPI to make the update), and so will not work with the current Winshuttle add long text functionality.  

You will need to record this long text the old fashioned way, with x numbers of 72-character lines (depending on how much text you expect to add) in the basic editor mode.  You may or may not need to click "change editor" depending on your system's configuration.

I have attached an example that adds 3 lines.  This example is replacing any existing text, as I've added an explicit delete action to make sure nothing is there, before inserting 3 lines for entry.  You can tweak to fit your process.

@JENNIFER HWANG - Thank you for checking back in.  I was able to get the long text to work utilizing the template provided as long as my total text length field doesn't get bigger than 800 characters. 

Basically, I created a macro that parses a single box of text into 40 piece chunks (SAP has been setup with 40 characters versus the typical 72 character limit.) 

Unfortunately, when I hit 800 characters (i.e. 20 rows in the line editor long text screen), it 'breaks'.  'Cursor Field (XXXXXX) is not enabled...'

Any thoughts?

Hi Michael -

Turns out that in batch mode there's only 19 rows of long text visible at a time per screen.  You will need to add in actions to hit Last Page and then Next Page after entering in the first 19 rows, then it will take you to an almost fresh page where it will show row 19 on the first row and then you will have 18 additional blank rows.  At least this is the behavior on my CS02, you will want to test things on your end to see the behavior on yours.
