  • 1.  Error with chaining query script and transactionscript

    Posted 08-18-2019 09:13
    Hi there,

I'm trying to chain a transactionscript to a query script in Studio v12.1.
With the queryscript I search for materials  that match with the conditons. This works fine.
Then with the transactionsscript I change some fields from the found materials. This also works fine.

I chain the two scripts and run this from Winshuttle. Still works fine.
But when I try to publish the scripts after they are chained I get errors.
The error from query script says that the .txr script is corrupted.
When I try to publish the .txr script  the error is : "End of Central Directory record could not be found."

Both script are on the local hard drive.

When the script are not chained I can publish them to the same Excelsheet without any problem.

    What am I doing wrong?

    Hi Jan,

There are a couple things to consider:

    1. Chaining Transaction and Query scripts only works if you're using Connect, not User Governance or Foundation. Are you publishing to Excel with a Connect license?
    https://docs.winshuttle.com/studio-en-12-1-x-online-help-studio-w-connect/12/cross-link-scripts.htm

    2. Our help page has important notes about chaining Transaction and Query scripts:
    • Studio 12.1 supports cross-linking of Transaction and Query scripts in the same chain, for all scripts created in Studio versions 11.x and later
    • Studio 12.1 does not support linked chains (cross-linked or not) that combine 10.x scripts with 11.x or 12.x scripts.
    https://docs.winshuttle.com/studio-en-12-1-x-online-help-studio-w-connect/12/link-scripts.htm

Please let us know if your situation doesn't apply here.

    Thanks,

    Hi Maria,

I'am using Studio 12.1 with connect.
As basis I used the scripts in "31915-MM02_Update_Materials.zip" which I downloaded from the template directory.
I removed some tables so I could reduce it to a simple sheet to show an example for connecting Query with Transaction.

Now I recreated both scripts in Studio v12.1 but still get the same errors.

    Scripts and xlsx are uploaded

    Hi Jan,

I was able to chain the scripts and publish them. I had the scripts and data file saved to my desktop when I chained and published them. Attached is the Excel file with the published scripts. I noticed when I chained the scripts the Run settings is grayed out to "All from Individual Scripts" which is supposed to happen, but yours had Custom so I'm not sure how you were able to choose a different run setting.

If you're still running into this issue, I recommend opening a support ticket so we can view your screen and see what's happening.

    Hi Jan,

I also noticed your log column shows Studio 12.0 Update 1. Please make sure you're using Studio 12.1. Here is a screenshot of my log using 12.1:

    Hi Jan,
I'm not sure if you can chain a Query script and a Transaction script together.  Sounds like you need to do the round-trip scenario where you publish the Query script and the Transaction script to the same template.   Winshuttle has an excellent WUGinar on the subject, might be worth checking out:  https://www.winshuttle.com/assets/webinar-wuginar-how-to-complete-round-tripping-with-winshuttle-studio/.

    Hi Monica,

We do allow chaining Query and Transaction scripts together starting with v12.1 and only if you're using Connect, not User Governance or Foundation.

Here are the release notes for 12.1: https://docs.winshuttle.com/studio-en-12-1-x-release-notes/release-notes/new-features-enhancements.htm

    Hi Maria,
Thanks for the info.  I was not sure.  We are running Studio 12.0 with Foundation and we are not able to do it.

    Regards,
    Monica
