  • 1.  Attachments - Query?

    Posted 04-22-2019 15:30
    Hello Everyone!
I have a unique question.  We are going to be retiring our SAP CRM system and have attachments on customers both in the CRM and ERP sides of SAP.  We want to migrate these attachments over to ERP.  A couple of questions:
1).  Has anyone been involved in the process of moving attachments
2).  Is there a way to query attachments from one system and then attach them to another system.

Hoping to get some great feedback on this soon.
Thank you for reading my question.

    Hi Sue,

Mass attachments can be done using GUI Scripting with Winshuttle or using Direct.
Query can also be done. It will mainly depend on what kind of object type it is.

    Thanks

Thanks so much for your response Atul.  Do you know of a function module or BAPI to accomplish this query in CRM?

    Hey Sue,

I think you might be able to use a Query or a BAPI to see which SAP objects have attachments associated with them, but in terms of actually retrieving the files down from SAP and saving them on to a machine, I have not seen that before and I don't know if we can support it.

I have tested on my own system using GUI Scripting to download different file types in a script, and I can export Excel files through GUI, but in my scenario it is stripping the file type and creating a file that can't be opened without defining a file type.  This would then require actions within Windows to make the file usable, which Winshuttle would not interact with.

In your specific example, is there a specific file type that you're trying to retrieve from SAP, and which document storage method are you using within SAP?
