  • 1.  MI02 Change Physical Inventory Document

    Posted 04-18-2019 07:47
    All,
I'd like to use Winshuttle to do a mass delete of materials using the MI02 transaction.  The issue is that every Physical Inventory Document has a different number of materials which were counted.  It would be ideal to be able to pass a number to Winshuttle and have it execute the steps necessary to delete the materials.
If anyone has been successful, I'd appreciate your solution.

    Hi Don,
Do you know what the maximum number of materials is ? You could either try this in batch input mode or if you know the maximum number of records each set always record for one, then add a skip if not present icon to that action and then duplicate (Copy/paste) it to the number of lines you need. This way the number of materials count will not effect your script.

    Isra,

Thank you so much!  Your thought sounds promising, I'll try it and let the group know.

Hi Don - Would it be possible to use Query to extract what you want to delete ahead of time?  That way you'd know what you need to work with.
    Best Regards,
    Sigrid

You can get the number of lines for each physical inventory document from table ISEG.

Once you have that, you can create a script that uses inventory document number and line number to delete each line.  Inside MI02 you can go to "Edit" then "Position Cursor" to get to the line number, then "Edit" and "Deletion Indicator On/Off" to set the flag and save the document.

I have to ask though, it looks like setting the deletion flag for each line in an inventory document deletes then entire document.  If that's the case, why not just do that?

    Michael,

Thanks so much for your ideas.  Fortunately, my business customer created all of their PI documents with 333 items for counting.  Their problem was the population of items to be counted was incorrect and the document numbers needed to be deleted.  In our instance of SAP, the MI02 transaction requires clicking on each item and then the delete button.  Once all items are flagged, then once saved the document is deleted.

That said, we were able to put together a script to deleted the PI documents.  Thanks again.
