I have loaded v11 and had work stations at v10 (I encountered no issues). I am planning to load function module v12 in advance of our upgrade to the v12 Studio software. We typically perform this work in our non-prod environments first, then test, then perform the v12 function module update during the next available maintenance window.

From my understanding, the v12 function module is backwards compatible with the v11 software, so there would be no need to have both function modules installed at the same time in an SAP environment (I do not know if that is even possible).
