  • 1.  Schedule Transaction Load Populated by SQL Query

    I have a transaction script, with a template that is populated with data by refreshing an embedded SQL query that pulls data directly from a 3rd party quality system. I'd like to automate the process in an RPA type manner on a daily basis, so that the query runs to pull the data, followed by the execution of the transaction script to load the data into SAP, with no manual user intervention required. 
    Is there any way of doing this utilizing the SAP Integration Server functionality within Foundation? Or, is the only real viable option a workaround using VB macros to build this process? 

    We are running Winshuttle Studio version 11.2.12 on Foundation version 11.2.12. We run daily Query extracts on Server to pull data out of SAP, using the integration server functionality. But for transaction loads, there only appears to be the option to run one time on Server, and there doesn't appear to be any way of triggering the SQL query refresh before a run. 

    Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

    Hi Brandon,

    Right now I believe you'd have to use VBA to execute the database query and then use our command line interface to run the script.  There is a utility you can request from Support which will build the command line call for you, if you are struggling with the syntax.  V12 documentation (there is also doc for prior versions):  https://winshuttle-help.s3.amazonaws.com/studio/en/connect-sap/help/12/run-from-command-line-transaction.htm 

    Overall if this was an SAP query, we have requested the ability to link Queries and Transaction scripts.  But because of other priorities, it hasn't yet made it into the product, but we hope it will be one day.

    We're also looking at ways to provide additional automation methods, but right now this is what we have to offer.
