A useful clarification for those working across multiple Syncsort™ Storage Management components-especially in environments that have evolved from legacy DTS Software products.

Syncsort Storage Management follows a Version, Release, Maintenance (V.R.M.) numbering scheme, along with an associated Service Level (SL) to track product updates and compatibility.

    What's changed starting with R7.2?

Prior to R7.2 (under legacy DTS Software Service Levels):

    • Individual products (e.g., Storage Control Center and Simulate 2000) had independent Maintenance levels
    • This often led to misalignment across products within the same Service Level, adding complexity to version tracking and support

    From R7.2 onwards:

    • DTS Software Storage Control Center (SCC) and Simulate 2000 (PTL) are now unified under Syncsort™ Storage Management (SSM)
    • All components within a given Service Level now share a common Maintenance number

    Why this matters:

    • Simplifies version management across the product suite
    • Reduces ambiguity during upgrades, patching, and support discussions
    • Improves consistency when validating environments across teams

This alignment is a small but impactful change that makes a big difference in managing complex storage environments more efficiently.
