    Hello Automate Community!

As you may be aware, the Sales Engineering team started a Tip of the Week a while back where we share information related to our Automate solutions.

For this week's tip, we'll look at how you can schedule your jobs to your various scripts, both from a local and server perspective. Within Studio, you have options that allow you to run scripts in an unattended mode at a specified date and time through an easy built-in scheduler.

    Schedule a Transaction run

Studio includes a scheduler which allows you to schedule a run in advance or at regular intervals. Studio will automatically connect to SAP, run the transaction on the schedule you set up, and then close the connection with SAP. Studio can also send an email notification confirming that the scheduled job was performed.

For example, if a user has a large amount of data that needs to be executed at specified time and at specified frequency unattended, we can go for scheduling jobs.

Using Studio to schedule a script

    ·       Click the File tab from Studio, click Transaction Solution Library, and open the solution that you want.

    ·       On the Run tab, click the Schedule arrow and click Schedule Local.

    ·       In the Automate Scheduler box:

o   Choose SAP server for schedule.

o   In the Title box, type the title you want Studio to show in the list of scheduled tasks.

o   In the Send Email Notifications To box, type the email address where you want to receive scheduling notifications. (Note: Use commas to separate multiple email addresses)

o   If you are using an Exchange server to send email notifications and using an Excel or Access data file, you can include the results file with the email message by checking the Attach data file box. To set this up, provide the Exchange server details in the Studio options.

o   In the Reason box, you can change the reason for the run.

    o   Click Next.

    ·       Click One Time, Daily, Weekly, or Monthly.

    ·       Choose the recurrence options you want.

    ·       To stop running the scheduled script, check the Expires on box and then enter a date and time.

    ·       Under Advanced Settings, you can choose to run the script multiple times. For example, if you want to run the script monthly on the fifth day, and you want to run the script at the beginning and the end of the day, check the Repeat task every box, click 12 Hours, and click 1 Day.

    ·       Click Finish.

Use the Excel Add-in to schedule a run

    ·       Launch Excel and open your script.

    ·       Click the Studio tab and log on to Studio.

    ·       Go to Studio tab, click on the arrow in Schedule, choose Schedule Local.

Using Schedule Server (In Excel) with No Data Review Process

Server based posting and scheduling is supported with Evolve and Studio Manager.

    ·       Launch Excel and open a new blank workbook.

    ·       Click the Studio tab and log on to Studio.

    ·       Click the Evolve tab, click Open, go to My Template, click Open Transaction Data Template, and open the data file.

    * All of the steps would be the same if you opened the script in Studio, except you would Click the File tab from Studio, click Transaction Solution Library, and then open the solution that you want.

    ·       Go to Studio tab, click on the arrow in Schedule, choose Schedule Server.

    ·       Save the data file to your computer.

    ·       In Save to library, edit file name (optional) and click OK.

    ·       Select the SAP system.

    ·       In the Automate Scheduler box, enter the start date and the start time.

    ·       Click Finish.

I hope you find this helpful. Have a great week!

    Thanks!
