    In earlier versions of MIP  this functionality existerd:  selecting of  a number of objects from  a layer created an entity that showed up in the table list as "Selection" which  could be selected to create a new table etc..

    In the present version 2923 build 141, such a selection is listed and numbered as a query..

    This substatially increases the numer of queries in the table list, it also is confusing in the "Upddate Collumn"  and  "Search and Replace" tool. where in stad of  "selection" a query number needs to be selected.

    I vote for the return of  "Selection" in future versions of MIP

    Hi Ad

    You should still be able to see and work with the selection in the latest version of MapInfo Pro.

    In the image below I have selected two countries from the World table.

    In the Table List, the Selection query shows up.

    MapInfo Pro automatically renames the Selection query to a numbered query when you use it, say in an update statement or show it in a browser window.
    If the Selection gets renamed right after you create it by selecting one or more records, it's typically caused by an application. Applications can react to changes in the selection and if they inspect the selection it may get renamed.
    Do you have any applications running?
    Can you try to unload all applications and see if the behavior changes?
