I am answering my own question here, as it might be useful for others. AI tools like Claude can read and write MapInfo Workspace files. If a layout template is saved to a workspace file then the tool can read the .wor file, make the required positioning and scaling adjustments and then save the output to a new .wor file.
There may be a bit of iteration needed, and some adjustments may be quicker to perform manually, but it worked for me.

Hi all,
I have created a complex layout template with about 50 elements including text, images, shapes, a couple of map frames and some other items. The template is using an A4 page. Is there a quick way to generate a copy of this template for other paper sizes from A3 to A0?
I want the elements to resize to the new page size. For example, the main map frame has a top left position of 0.2cm in X and Y on A4. On A2, which is twice the size, the position would be 0.4cm. Similarly I would like the text and shapes to increase in size as the page gets bigger.
I could manually adjust each element, but as there are so many of them, and I have 4 templates to create I am wondering if there is a quicker way.
