    Back in January 2024, Precisely announced the launch of PSYTE™ US, a geodemographic dataset.

    "PSYTE™ US Geodemographic segmentation data provides users with an easy-to-understand classification of neighborhoods. The average age, income, education, preferences, and much more allow for data-driven personalization.

    Designed with quality, accuracy, and privacy in mind, geodemographic segmentation deepens customer insights, to improve the characteristics and behaviors of populations in specific geographic areas.

    PSYTE™ US Geodemographic data classifies segments into 12 lifestyle groups and 63 mutually exclusive neighborhood types, describing each with a short label, providing fast and easy insights that serve a multitude of uses.", see PSYTE US on the Precisely website.

    You can download a trial version of the PSYTE dataset for San Francisco from the Precisely Data Experience. Create a login if you haven't already, sign in, and go to the Sample Datasets. You will find PSYTE under Demographics.
    It can be downloaded in a couple of formats. If you want to use it in MapInfo Pro, I'd recommend using Extended Tab. This gives you an Extended MapInfo TAB file you can open directly into MapInfo Pro.
    If you are to use it in MapInfo Pro, I recommend you check out the PSYTEAnalyzer tool from the MapInfo Marketplace. PSYTEAnalyzer has been developed specifically to be used with the PSYTE dataset.
    Open the MapInfo Marketplace, browse to PSYTEAnalyzer, and click the Install Product button to download and install the tool.
    This first version of PSYTEAnalyzer has two basic features:
    1. Analyze a single catchment area
    2. and analyze and compare two catchment areas

    For both these, you can also compare the result to a benchmark value for a county, a state, or the US. For the sample data from the Precisely Data Experience, you can only compare the result to a county.

    Start by selecting the catchment area for a location. Now click the Single Site control on the Analysis tab.

    You will now need to specify a few things in the Create Single Site Analysis dialog.
    Select the column holding an ID or name for your locations. This name will be used for the resulting tables and will also be shown on the resulting layout.
    You also need to decide if you want to include the Benchmark result in the resulting report. If you do, make sure to check the Add Benchmark to Output and then select the Benchmark Type and the Benchmark Area from the two lists below.
    Finally, select the Layout Template that you want to use. Currently, PSYTEAnalyzer comes with a limited number of layouts. You can look in the documentation for the tool to learn how to build additional templates.
    When you click the OK button, PSYTEAnalyzer will select all the segmentation areas that intersect the catchment area and summarize the values for the PSYTE segments that lie inside the catchment area. The result will be presented in a report in the form of a layout with a map and a graph showing the Top-5 PSYTE segments.
    A similar report can be created for two locations. This can be used to compare an existing location to a potential new location to see if they align.
    In the Create Dual Site Analysis dialog, you must also specify which is the primary location. The primary location controls the order of the PSYTE segments in the Top-5 graph.
    In the image below, you can see the two resulting reports side-by-side.
