Precisely announces the release of a new application in the ServiceNow Store, Ironstream z/OS Software Discovery, which brings mainframe software visibility directly into the ServiceNow platform to support IT Operations Management (ITOM), Software Asset Management (SAM) and IT Service Management (ITSM) processes
Overview of Features and Functionality
Ironstream z/OS Software Discovery extends ServiceNow's Discovery visibility to include mission-critical IBM Z (mainframe) environments, eliminating bling spots that can impact ITOM, SAM, and ITSM accuracy.
Using Ironstream z/OS Software Discovery, you can quickly configure and launch secure, automated discovery of z/OS software installed via SMP/E across your mainframe landscape.
The solution collects a detailed inventory of installed software products and components, then auto-populates and maintains the ServiceNow Configuration Management Database (CMDB) for complete and up-to-date visibility that downstream IT processes rely on.
Where ServiceNow Software Asset Management (SAM) is enabled, discovered software can be directed into SAM-relevant records to support ongoing asset governance.
This enables ServiceNow administrators, ITSM process owners, and mainframe platform owners to maintain accurate software records for compliance, audit readiness, and operational efficiency by reducing manual effort and improving data quality for IT asset management and IT operations teams. Accurate, policy-aligned CMDB and SAM data helps ITSM teams improve incident, problem, and change management for services that depend on IBM Z.
The Ironstream z/OS Software Discovery solution is a paid application. It requires the purchase of the Ironstream Mainframe Discovery app and agent to enable secure and comprehensive mainframe software discovery.
