    Hi All,

We are planning to migrate Trillium 15.7.4 to AWS. Can we take a snapshot of the server and put in AWS or do we need to perform installation from the scratch.

    Regards,
    Mani Sangeeth

    Hi Mani,

I prefer a new installation, takes about 30 minutes. You can re-use the on premise DQ repository and copy that to AWS. The repository will have all your data, metadata and projects. There is a backup/restore procedure in the documentation if you want to know more.

    Regards

    Marco

    Hi Marco de Jong,

Thanks for the information. whether the repository will hold the discovery projects as well or do we need to manually create the projects and entities again?

    Hi Mani,

Yes, Discovery analysis projects, entities, (Library) business rules and metadata are all included in the repository.
No need to re-create anything, it will be there. Just make sure you backup the repository when the services are down.

    Regards

    Marco

    Thanks for the update.

Its hard to find a admin resource with Trillium expertise. As an alternative can we make use of admins from other applications we have for SAP Business Objects to help Install and configure Trillium. Our assumption is that someone already having admin experience can understand the trillium admin guide and they can follow the steps as metioned .Please suggest If we are wrong ?

    Hi Mani,

Maintaining Trillium is no rocket science, it's much easier than something like SAP BO or a RDBMS.

Trillium experience can be hard to find. Once installed Trillium just runs for years without the need for an admin. If you have integrated Trillium in SAP using the Trillium BAdi it makes sense to use that team maintaining the service and repository. If your company is delivering services for other customers and you don't maintain Trillium yourselves, I think the BO team is a good place to start looking for building Trillium experience. They will probably find it much easier to work with.

Please reach out to the support team, they are very knowledgable, I've been working with them for +15 years. With their help and support I'm 100% sure you can do it.

    Regards

    Marco
