  • 1.  Material Master Alt Description Creation script

    Hi All

    Currently in our SAP we maintain multiple alternative languages on Material Master creation, fairly frequently we are asked to add new descriptions to the list.

    Historically we had a script that created alt languages by looking for the field SKTEXT-MAKTX(14) which resides at the bottom of the screen when you view Descriptions via MM02. 

    The issue I now have is we are up to around 16 languages as standard that get added at the point of Material creation, with additional requirements for anywhere between 5-8 more alternative languages are then required on top of that number. 

    Trying to amend the existing script i have to pick field SKTEXT-MAKTX(19) fails the run with the following error:

    Cursor field (SKTEXT-MAKTX Material Description)(19) is not enabled, or is missing from screen

    mainly because to get to field 19 you have to scroll down. There is no page down, or next button for me to code in to achieve the same result.

    Has anybody found this issue previously? if so, is there a workaround to enable multiple language creation using MM02 or similar?

    Did you try the BAPI_MATERIAL_SAVEDATA , table MATERIALDESCRIPTION ? We don't have so many languages to load, but it works fine for me.

    Hi Jan

    I personally haven't recorded anything with BAPI before. We have a handful of scripts that utilize BAPI but Ive never explored it. It appeared i didnt have access when i looked so our security team is checking that for me, ill have a look into it and see what i can do.
