As we add more tools to the MapInfo Marketplace and also update these as times go by, you may wonder how you can quickly find out when a new version of one of the tools you installed from the MapInfo Marketplace is available

The answer is: We keep track of this for you.

Notifications on Marketplace Updates

When you start MapInfo Pro, the MapInfo Marketplace add-in is also launched. That is, unless you have changed it to not load automatically.

On launch, the MapInfo Marketplace add-in checks for an updated version of the tool, and if any of the tools you have deployed have been updated on the marketplace.

If an updated version of a tool is available, it notifies you about this via the notification system in MapInfo Pro.

When a notification is available, the user can see a small red icon on the right side of the Statusbar.

When you double-cælick on the Notification in the Notification window, it opens the My Products page on the MapInfo Marketplace.

At the top, you can see the available updates.

Updating an Add-in from the MapInfo Marketplace

You can now choose to update all the products via the Update All button.

Or you can, as I did, use the Update Product button for a specific product to only update a single product.

As you can see in the Tasks window, MapInfo Pro downloads, unzips, installs, registers, and runs the chosen product. If the chosen product is loaded in MapInfo Pro, you will be prompted for permission to close it before updating it.

As you can see, it is very easy to get a new version of an add-in installed from the MapInfo Marketplace.
