    Happy #MapInfoMonday!

Getting data from MapInfo Pro into an MS Excel spreadsheet is a very common task for many users. It's a question I hear often, and years back, I even created the tool MapInfo2Excel to help users perform this task.

With the support for OGR Vector Files that we added back in MapInfo Pro v2021, there is now another way to get data from MapInfo Pro into a new MS Excel File: Export.

Imagine that you have just finished an analysis in MapInfo Pro. You have a query result with some data that you need to share with your manager. She has asked to be given this data in an MS Excel file.

With MapInfo Pro v2021 and later versions, this is now quite easier.
You can click on the Export button on the Table tab.
You will now be asked to select the table or tables to export via the Export Table dialog. And yes, that's right, you can even export multiple tables if needed.
Or, even easier, you can right-click on the table you want to export in the Table List, and from the context menu select Export... and so skip the dialog asking you to pick the table to export.
In the Export Table(s) to File(s) dialog, you can now name your Output File and select the format from the Export as Type list.
Next up is specifying the Charset for the MS Excel file in the MS Office Open XML Spreadsheet Export Options dialog.
Export in Background when possible allows you to continue working while the data is being written to the new file. You can monitor the process in the Tasks window. If you are exporting queries, they can not run in the background.
Now you can share the exported MS Excel file with your manager.
I hope you found this useful.
