  • 1.  Is there a tool/function to transfer thematic styles to a table permanently?

    Dear Community

Is there a tool out there to transfer your thematic styling permanently to objects in a table (not just save the theme settings in the tab).

    Thanks

    Hi John,

The WindowHelper tool by @Peter Møller can do this for you.  It will introduce a new option called "Save Styles to Table" to the Map menu.  You need to select the Theme layer in the Explorer window first, so the option is enabled.

    Hello John, the Community,

This can also be done by using the "Save Theme as Default View" option.

You can save a thematic map directly to the table's metadata, which makes it the default theme that automatically loads when the table is opened:
Create a Thematic map for your table using Map > Add Theme.
In the "Create Thematic Map Step 3 of 3" dialog box, select the checkbox "Save Theme As Default View"
    Click OK.
This saves the theme data to the .TAB file's metadata, eliminating the need to create a workspace file.

To enable this feature by default:
Go to Pro > Options > Map Window
Select the checkbox "Automatically Open Default Theme"
    Click OK.

    Hi David

That only saves the theme view to the tab metadata - which is really useful if the data is dynamic and the styles change with the data.

I needed to save the styles permanently to the individual object properties. A slight improvement in performance too, when you have 5 million objects!

    Cheers
