In the Raster Operations I can successfully create contour maps for specific areas in Australia because the DTM data available for download can be in a Map Info format or other readable file.  In trying to do the same for Canada I run into a problem because the available files are in a format I don't seem able to read since the Universal Data import facility shows the Esri Geodatabase .gdb. but does not see all the various extensions as below....any suggestion gratefully received!

    Hi Roy,

from the available providers you should choose the "Esri Geodatabase (File Geodb Open API)" provider and when asked about the source you select the folder that contains all the files of your screenshot and not a single file.

With that approach opening that GDB should work (i hope).

    best regards

    Dear Stefan,

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply. Unfortunately this was the exact process I took.  I even managed to get the DTM files into GoogleE so I could transfer them across, but MI couldn't register the image as it read the data as a straight line and couldn't import it that way either.  Hence my call for help!  I think my hope is to get the providers to offer an alternative format I can read or get a friendly ESRI user to create the contour maps for me as a .shp!

    Thanks again

    Roy

    Hi Roy,

since there was no real help from my side: you're welcome :-D.

sorry, - without the files, it's only guesswork i can take. if MiPro (Universal data/translator = FME workbench)  cannot read thtat stuff, there must be an open source option to do so, - pretty sure but not 100% safe.

Maybe you can provide a sample, so that i or someone else can have a look at it.

    best regards

    Stefan

In retracing my steps through the Canadian Govt data set I came across a Google Earth Index which gridded the Country and linked DEM Tif files thereto, so this might seem a cop out but I have now got my contour files, so don't need to waste anyone's time resolving my GDB issue.  But thank you nonetheless for your interest!
