    Hi Team,

I saw a new tool in Mapinfo for Heatmap (at least new for me)

However each time I try to use it

it give me an error of invalid TAB format

Could you please share a draft example of the correct tab format?

I wonder if the data originates from a CSV or similar.

Can you try saving a copy of your table and using this copy instead?

I made a copy even with less columns (removed unrequired ones)

but still same problem, however I noticed another task fail message

    shown below

In the Tasks Window, you can click on the task that failed. From here you can access the log file, does that give more details?

Would you be able to share the table - or parts of it - you are using?

This exception generally comes if the vector data used for HeatMap is referring to unsupported file formats e.g. shape file.
Can you provide all the file names associated with the input. A small sample of the input would be even better.

Ok,  the primary requirement for generating heatmap or any kind of gridding operation is that the vector table should be mappable i.e. its should have the coordinates information. The xls input (or csv) that you are using is not mappable. We need to first represent it in spatial aware format.

For the exact steps to make excel data eligible for heatmap, follow the steps outlined by Peter in the answer below.

Sujit is right. The table needs to be mappable but that's not all.

The table also has to be in a native format so you will have to create a copy of the table in either MapInfo or MapInfo Extended format. Or you can check the Create copy in MapInfo format for read/write option when you open the Excel file into MapInfo Pro.

You will also have to create points from the coordinates. If you use the Create Points dialog, it will also make your table mappable if it isn't already.

Once your table is in a native format and has points associated with the rows, you can use the Heatmap feature.

    Thanks Experts

I was missing to check: Create copy in MapInfo format for read/write option

    Now is working :)
