Hi Ryan
Sorry for the late reply.
1) I wonder if this could be caused by an antivirus or file sync tool like Dropbox or similar.
The metadata operation often would write additional information to the tab file and if this file is being locked by another process this may explain the issue you see.
2) Does it help if you turn on Raster Reprojection for your map window? Check out this #MapInfoMonday post.

Subject: GRID Thematic Problems
My program automates a grid thematic and I am experiencing two issues:
1) The error: "Metadata operations cannot be performed on this table" interrupts the program when it performs the Create Grid statement. Oddly, the grid is still created (it exists as a table that I can find and add to the map window). Odder still, if I change NOTHING, and simply re-run the program it can fail again (as you'd expect if there is a problem) but if you try another time or two it will complete without the error. How is this possible? Either something is wrong or it isn't?
2) Another new thing I'm noticing - the created grid thematic changes the aspect ratio of the map window, causing it to squeeze in height. I have run multiple settings, I have created grids both using mapbasic code and manually using the menu, I have paid close attention to the projection of the map window and tables - no idea what is causing the the map to distort. Other people in my company have tried and get the same result, so it's a mapinfo 'thing'.
Any ideas what is going on here? New release issues? Some daft setting I'm missing?
