What is Syncsort Storage Management?
Syncsort Storage Management is a suite of tools designed to help organizations optimize, automate, and manage storage environments on IBM Z systems. It brings together multiple capabilities (originally from DTS Software) into a unified solution focused on improving efficiency and reliability in storage operations.
With the introduction of Release 7.2, these products were consolidated under a single platform and branding, simplifying deployment and lifecycle management.
Key Components in the Suite
Some of the commonly used components include:
- Space Recovery System (SRS) – Helps reclaim unused disk space
- Allocation Control Center (ACC) – Manages and optimizes dataset allocation
- Clone Center – Supports dataset and volume cloning
- SCC Monitor – Provides monitoring and reporting capabilities
- Simulate 2000 – Forecasts storage usage and capacity planning
All these components are typically aligned within the same release and maintenance level, ensuring consistency across the environment.
