I use both methods at times. I'll stick to opening from within MapInfo and see if that solves the problem.

Thanks for replying. I think you found the issue.
I just checked the source file and the dwg I originally used had unbeknownst to me been renamed when another version came in from the consultant. i.e. it had v1 attached to the end.
I did a new import, probably not realising that there was a second version, and it has worked fine since. One to look out for.
I'm also having a number of issues this week with workspaces that appear to open correctly, i.e. no errors displayed, but are renamed as Untitled.wor. Is this one you are aware of?

It could be that MapInfo can't find the DWG anymore (moved/renamed, netowork issues, etc).
Otherwise it is possibly related to a licensing issue, are you able to open a new DWG using the same method?
Also have you tried exporting your data as DXF rathern than DWG and using the new OGR reader in MapInfo 2021? I find this works quite well.

Using the Universal Data tool I imported a dwg file into a workspace and all was working fine.
This was 2 days ago and no issues including this morning. I open the workspace again (only 5 minutes after it was working fine) and all of a sudden the workspace opens with a number of errors and won't open the tab files that were created from the import. Any native format TAB files were fine, just the ones imported from dwg.
Tried a different workspace that I'd followed the same process with and had been working fine yesterday and get the same errors.
Can somebody tell me what is happening please?
