  • 1.  Feature Request: Ability to Reverse DQ Score Colors in Data360 Govern

    Hi everyone,

I've been using Data360 Govern for a few weeks now and would like to share an idea with the community. I'm hoping others can provide feedback, and perhaps Precisely might consider it as a future enhancement.

In data quality reporting, I believe that showing the fault percentage is often more effective than showing the good percentage.

Why fault percentage can be more valuable

    Drives action

    • High error percentages immediately attract attention.
    • Teams tend to react faster when they can clearly see what is wrong.

    Highlights actual risk

    • A score of 99% good quality may sound excellent, but in large datasets it can still represent thousands of incorrect records.
    • Displaying a 1% error rate makes the scale of the problem easier to understand.

    Improves decision-making

    • The metric directly points to where improvement efforts are needed.

    Current limitation

Unfortunately, this approach is difficult to implement in Data360 Govern because the DQ score color scheme is fixed. Red always starts at 0% and green always ends at 100%.

The screenshot shows the current score band configuration in Data360 Govern. While the thresholds can be adjusted, the color direction cannot. Red always starts at 0% and green always ends at 100%.

As a result, it is not possible to reverse the interpretation and use fault percentages while keeping the visual indicators aligned with the message. For example, a higher fault percentage should become red instead of green.

Thank you for taking the time to read my suggestion. As a new Data360 Govern user, this is actually my first post in the community, so I hope it sparks an interesting discussion. I'm curious to hear how other organizations approach Data Quality scoring and whether you see value in a configurable or reversible color scale. Do you think this would be a useful feature for Data360 Govern, or do you prefer the current implementation? I look forward to hearing your thoughts and learning from the community's experiences. 😁

    Hi Ajeeth,

Thanks for the detailed write-up and screenshot, this is a great first post, and a really clear way to explain the idea.

You've identified a real gap: today the color direction is fixed even though the thresholds are adjustable, so there's no way to keep the visual logic aligned if you want to lead with a fault or error rate instead of a "good" percentage. That's a fair ask, and the reasoning about large datasets hiding real problems behind a high "good" score is well put.

This kind of scoring flexibility is exactly the direction we're taking with DIS Govern, our next-generation governance platform, where we're actively expanding how scoring bands can be configured. I'm bringing this specific idea to that team now so it's considered while that work is underway, rather than added on later.

I can't promise a timeline right now, but I wanted you to know this was read, made sense, and is being raised internally. If anything changes I'll follow up here.

Thanks again for taking the time to post. Hope to see more ideas from you in the community.

    Best,
    Bryan

    Hi Bryan,

Thank you for the thoughtful response and for taking the time to review the feature request in detail.

I'm glad to hear the use case resonates and that the need for more flexible score visualization is recognized.

It's encouraging to hear that DIS Govern is already moving toward more configurable scoring capabilities, and I appreciate you bringing this suggestion to the team while that work is still evolving.

Thank you for the transparency and for keeping the community informed. I look forward to seeing how the platform develops and to following future enhancements in this area.

    Best regards,
    Ajeeth Muthu
