You may want to check that the table has been "packed". If it hasn't, that could also explain why it has 3 records and you mention you are only trying to export 1 polygon.
Worth checking because I have found this issue when I have tried to export a non-packed table to ESRI shapefile.

I wonder if the export fails because some of the records do not have a spatial object.

I'm trying to export a polygon object to a ESRI Shapefile, however when I do so I get the following Error:
It exports fine when I use a GeoJSON, and I've restarted MapInfo to no result. Am I missing anything?
