This training session provides a practical framework for submitting large numbers of EnterWorks repository records to EPX workflows without overwhelming workflow processing resources or losing visibility into which records have been submitted. Participants learn the limitations of traditional workflow submission methods, including record-count restrictions, workflow-lock timing challenges, and difficulties tracking large-scale submissions using standard workflow status indicators.
The session explores a scalable alternative based on a dedicated workflow status attribute, enabling users to mass-update and submit virtually unlimited numbers of records in a single operation. Attendees learn how workflow state values, such as initiated, in progress, and completed, can provide clear, reliable visibility into each record's progress throughout the workflow lifecycle.
A major focus is placed on workflow architecture and performance optimization. Through detailed demonstrations, participants learn how monitoring paths, scheduler-driven processing, repository searches, work-item creation, batch submission logic, delays, cutoff tracking, and configuration repositories work together to launch workflow items safely and efficiently. The training also demonstrates how batching and throttling techniques help prevent EPX resource exhaustion while maintaining steady processing throughput.
Additional topics include workflow locking strategies, serializing automated activities, handling interactive versus background workflows, submission forms, repository design considerations, monitoring techniques, tuning batch sizes and delays, and methods for providing real-time workflow visibility directly within repository records. Practical examples show how the solution can be adapted to both new and existing workflows.
