The EnterWorks Scheduled Promotion lacks detailed options for promoting only the specific records that need to be promoted. This can lead to longer promotion jobs, which may cause issues when multiple repositories are promoted frequently.
Assuming the records to be promoted have already been validated, a stored procedure invoked from a Scheduled Export can define a saved set containing only the records that need to be promoted. Instead of scheduling or launching the Promotion job separately, this Scheduled Export would be executed first, and it would then trigger the Promotion job, which would be configured to promote only the records in the saved set. If the saved set is empty, launching the Promotion job can be skipped.
This session explains the stored procedure and how to configure it in Scheduled jobs.
