    EnterWorks 11.2.4 and 11.2.5 DAM Processing Issues

    Announcement

    As you plan to upgrade your EnterWorks environments to 11.2.4 or 11.2.5, we want to share some recent issues we discovered related to DAM processing for non-image files (PDFs, text files, videos, etc.).

    Known Issues in 11.2.4 / 11.2.5

    1. Thumbnail generation for non-image files: Previously, customers could choose whether to generate a thumbnail for PDFs. A decision had been made to temporarily set the system to always generate a thumbnail, but feedback shows many customers prefer control over this setting. The upcoming EnterWorks release will restore configurability via the code set. 
    2. Working folder cleanup: Non-image files processed as jobs may not be cleared from the working folder, which can gradually consume disk space.
    3. Original file placement: Non-image files uploaded through DAMDrop and processed as background tasks may not be correctly placed in the Original folders, even though the record is created and processing completes. Uploads using the old UI method (showing progress instead of starting a job) are unaffected when the job threshold is set high enough.

    Impact

    These issues only affect customers who are using DAM and specifically those who are processing non-image files.

    Interim Solutions

    If you are affected:

    1. Accept that thumbnails will be generated for PDFs until a configuration option is provided.
    2. Periodically remove lingering files from the working folder, such as when the Services are restarted.
    3. Avoid having non-image files processed as jobs by:
      1. Using the classic UI for non-image uploads.
      2. Adjust the damv2.job.threshold property in the Shared Configuration so New UI uploads of non-image files remain under the configured limit.
      3. Upload non-image files as described above instead of placing them in the DamDrop folder.

    Fix Timeline

    These issues are addressed in the upcoming 11.2.6 and 11.3 EnterWorks release, expected by the end of September/early October.
