Perhaps someone can assist me here:

I want to massively extend material master records in plants, valuation areas, and sales organizations using the DIRECT method and BAPI, while leveraging existing template master records in the system. Does anyone have a ready-made DIRECT script with BAPI methode?

You might want to request a template on the SAP Module Templates community.

Until then, here is an example.  It uses one BAPI to create the material and another to extend it. 

Note I only had one tax class in both plants.  It's up to you to add/modify the fields to meet your needs, but I hope it's a start.  There's a basic online course on the Precisely University site on Direct, in case you need the basics:  https://preciselyu.precisely.com/path/studio-developers-and-runners/evolve-studio-direct

Please note I used an S4 system to create them, but I don't believe there is much of a difference in the BAPIs between ECC and S4, and you didn't specify.
