    Posted 21 days ago

    Hello Community!

We are having some issues with data (Excel) files becoming corrupted and being wiped out during a run in Automate Studio. The issue happens for both validate/simulates and runs.

This appears as if it is happening more with our chained/linked scripts, where in the transition between the scripts running something is corrupting the data files.

Here is a more detailed description of the issue we are experiencing:

What We Are Trying to Do: Validate, Simulate, or Run scripts in Automate Studio, especially linked scripts.

What is Happening: In the instance of a chain script, let's say 4 chained together, a couple scripts in the chain are running. It appears while Automate Studio is transitioning to running another script in the chain at some point, the Excel file is becoming corrupted. The scripts that run before the errors and corruption are still running properly and uploading to SAP as expected. There is no consistency in which scripts the file is becoming corrupted between, it is random. The screen flashes and an error message appears, and we can no longer use or recover our data files.

Where this is happening: This appears to be happening inordinately in a shared Network location where we are storing scripts and data files. I have not yet recorded this issue happening when the data file is located on a runners local machine. A solution for many scripts could be to just have the runners place their data files on their local machine; However, for some of our sensitive data purposes we will not always be able to have runners have and run data files from their local environments.

Has anyone else had an issue similar to this and have a solution, or some insights as to why this might be happening? Network speed for remote runners is a suspect but it is hard to tell with certainty, as it isn't possible to predict when this error is going to happen it is random.

Here are some images. Note: prior to these messages, the scripts are running just fine. Somewhere in the middle of running, these messages appear. Our data files are not password protected.

Additionally, this is a message we are getting in Excel sometimes with this error on attempting to re-open the data file:

    Hi Samuel

That's a tough one. I would open a support ticket.

QQ- in the chain definition, are all scripts pointing to the same excel workbook?

I just wonder if this is happening if the scripts are pointing to different workbooks but it's actually the same workbook, which is usually the case.

Hello Sigrid! This one did need a support ticket. All our linked scripts were pointed to the same workbook... the issue appears to have been with the fact that some of the workbooks/data files we were trying to use were encrypted. Switching to non-encrypted data files seems to have solved the issue.
