Hey Ryan
Sorry to hear you don't find this helpful at all.
Until you posted this question, I was sure it could be disabled in the MapBasic/SQL Window Preferences dialog. But we only allow you to disable syntax highlighting.
I did struggle with it for a while, too.
Especially in these situations:
As you said, it automatically adds an extra quote and bracket. I have almost gotten used to this now, probably because the text editor I use for writing MapBasic code has the same behaviour.
When you use the brackets, the intellisense seems to go into a different mode to insert possible attributes. I especially struggled with this when writing sub-select statements. For a while, I always got the Select keyword replaced by LayerControlSelectionInfo. Annoying. Now, I have learned to hit the Esc key to dismiss the intellisense.
Let me see if there is a way to disable the intellisense.

Subject: Any way to turn of IntelliSense in SQL window?
Hiya,
Is there any way to turn off IntelliSense in SQL window? It makes the window so clunky to use, it's constantly triggering when I don't want it to and auto-filling text I had no intention to write, it's always inserting extra brackets and quotes, and it just makes it a feature I loathe using (if its quicker to write your SQL in notepad and paste it into the window, it's a pretty damning indictment).
Please help me turn all of this "helpful" interference off!
Ryan
