  • 1.  Split target problem

    Posted 03-04-2020 04:44
    Hello,

I have 'Parcels' TAB (polygons with parcel_id field) and 'Road' TAB (also polygon representing road area). I need to cut parcels using road area.

When I try by setting 'Parcels' as target and using 'Road' as cutter, I'm getting this:

So, parcels are cutted in 2 parts. For example, parcel no. 4 has 2 parts: top and bottom part as one, and middle one as second part. I expected to get 3 parts (in this case): top, middle, and bottom.

    Anyone knows where I'm mistaking?

    Hi Miroslav

This works as designed even though I can see why you would expect a different result.

To get to the result you are looking for, you'll have to disaggregate the polygons that you have split:
    1. Make sure the layer is editable
    2. Select the polygons that you want to disaggregate
    3. Select Disaggregate in the Edit group on the SPATIAL tab.
    4. In the Disaggregate Objects dialog, I'd recommend that you select All Objects and keep Retain Holes in Regions checked.
