    Welcome!

We want to use MapInfo version 10.5 on a machine with Windows 10 Professional operating system.

    Unfortunately, the installation fails.

Is there a way to work with this version?

We have a problem with line thickness for the Mapinfo 15.0 printing, so we need to use the old version.

    Thanks in advance.

    Laszlo

    Hi Totvaradi,

MapInfo Pro version 10.5 is not supported on Windows 10 and hence cannot comment on the behavior. I suggest you to kindly open a ticket with the technical support for an investigation and further solution.

    Hi Totvaradi,

The easiest and fastest way to open a ticket is to email software.support@pb.com with the details of the issue you are experiencing. Your email will open a case and someone from the support team will help you.

I don't recall any noticeable differences in printing between those versions. ?Are you sure it's not just that you have "Enhanced Rendering" and transparency switched on in 15 which will cause the output to be rasterised (and thicker lines)?

Dear Tom Parker! Thank you for your answer. Even with the enhanced rendering feature, we have a problem with the same line thickness. We made some prints that I scanned and sent to see what it is about. The MAPinfo 10.5 and 15.0 32-bit programs have the same settings, both drawings are printed on a Canon IPF 825 plotter and use the same driver. We also tried printing on a Canon 5235 photocopier, there is the same difference between the prints. The computer screen appears in both versions with the same thickness line. We've also looked at MAPinfo version 16 for printing the same thick line. Can you give it a solution? Or is it possible for MapPoint 10.5 to work under Windows 10 Pro? Thank you in advance for your help. Best regards, Tótváradi László BFVT Kft.

    Thanks, @Greg Bachinsky?

Maybe you can help @Laszlo Totvaradi? look into his issue with the line style not looking the same in v15.0 as it did in v10.5.

Totvaradi, can you share some examples on how you see the difference? You mentioned some scanned prints earlier.

There surely is a big difference between these prints.

Are you printing directly from a map window or via the Layout window?

Version 10.5 is the thinner line, version 15.0 prints a thick line.

We need a thinner line for printing.

    Laszlo,

Can you please send me a data set that demonstrates this problem? You can use the Workspace Packager tool to bundle up the *.wor and all of the related tables. If you package into an empty directory, you can then zip up all of the files in that directory and send it to me. You can either attach it here, or email it to me: alicia.levesque@pb.com.

Once I have the data, that will make it easier to understand what is going on.

Have you also tried other printers, such as the MapInfo PDF printer and/or the Microsoft XPS printer? I'd like to know if this issue happens on all printers or just a specific printer.

    Thanks,

    Alicia
