You can display LiDAR data stored in LAS or LAZ format if you have MapInfo Pro Advanced by gridding it.
In the following description, I gridded the "Z" elevation channel and selected for "Ground" returns to make a terrain raster.
In 17.04, you need to select the "Create Raster Multifile" button on the Raster ribbon.
Generally, for LiDAR data you will use the "Triangulation" gridding method.
You will then be asked to select the LAS/LAZ files you wish to use.
Select a column - usually "Z" is the one you want.
Set the projection of the LiDAR data.
Hit OK to return to the main gridding property page.
At the top of the dialog, hit the "Data Conditioning" button to the right of the "Select Files" button.
In the data conditioning dialog, look for the "Las filtering options" and change the selection rule to "Select by classification and then return".
Insert a row into the spreadsheet and change the value to "2" - this is the code for "Ground" returns.
Change the "selection by return rule" to "Last return".
Hit OK.
Back in the main dialog I usually change the "Parameter Unit" to metres.
I usually set the "Maximum triangle size" to about 25 metres.
For LiDAR you can usually set a small "Cell size" - perhaps 1 metre or 0.5 metres.
Hit the "Process" button.
This ought to create a terrain raster for you.
