Part of our ongoing commitment to provide leading technology, we have made the decision that the 2019.1 release of Spectrum Spatial (due end of October 2019) will be the last release in which we support the 2 legacy stages in the Spectrum Spatial (Location Intelligence Module).

As part of this, we will be removing the two stages from the 2020.1 release:

The ability to configure a database resource for "Centrus" in the Spectrum Management Console

    • The "Legacy Point in Polygon" stage from the Enterprise Designer
    • The "Closest Site" stage from the Enterprise Designer.

Over recent years, we have made significant enhancements in our Spectrum Spatial stages.  We recommend all customers who use the two legacy stages to migrate to using the standard capabilities of the Spectrum Spatial, such as the Find Nearest, Point in Polygon, Query and Read Spatial data and other Spatial stages. These newer stages are all available with the Spectrum Spatial with no additional license needed, it is strongly recommended that you migrate to the new stages before undertaking any system upgrades.

These standard stages can use MapInfo TAB files, shape files, or RDBMS sources (such as Oracle, SQL Server and PostGIS) for data access rather than the GSB files used by these stages.  GSB files are always created from TAB or SHP so these files are already available in your organization.

Please post your comments and questions below, we are happy to help.

    Thanks
