What If I would like to add a column that is s result of a numeric formula to a table and create a thematic layer with that column in Spectrum Spatial? Like adding the Market Share value column and creating a thematic layer to see it in a Map Project in Spectrum Spatial (Analyst) application.
Let's see how to add a numeric formula as a data column in a table, create a thematic Layer in Spectrum Spatial Manager, adding and seeing it in a project map of Spectrum Spatial (Analyst) application!
Suppose I want to calculate the Market Share = 100 * Company Sales / Entire Market Sales, where "Company Sales" and "Entire Market Sales" are two existing columns of a Named Table (tab file, shape file, spatial database table…) and create a thematic layer with the Market Share here below there are the quick and easy steps procedure just using Spectrum Spatial 2019.1, or later!
- In Spectrum Spatial Manager (any release), Create a Named View from the Named Table having the two columns above, select your formula from the table as showed in the screenshot Picture 1 below. The result preview is showed in the screenshot Picture 2.
- In Spectrum Spatial Manager (release 2019.1), Create a Range thematic layer using the MarketShare added column in Spectrum Spatial Manager>Create Layer – see picture 3
To see the created thematic layer in Spectrum Spatial (Analyst) application we can either just add the layer in maps using Spectrum Spatial Manager or add directly the layer or the map in Spectrum Spatial (Analyst) application and save the map project!
We can give permissions on the named layer to a role or user that will let the end user(s) browse and add the layer themselves!
Picture 1: set the selection with the formula in Spectrum Spatial Manager (any release)
